Nothing happened, even after rebooting. Then I went to Microsofts page on 0x80096005 (and other) errors:<br /><br />http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822798. <br /><br />Here they have a "Fixit" solution, which actually did exactly that. After I looked at your post I feel like a bit of a moron for not noticing the error source D3DX9 and relating it to an obvious DirectX issue. <br />I did, however, take a different approach. I did first attempt to move some DX9 files into the system32 directory but got no love. Instead I decided to run the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer. Once the installer completed I noticed a ton more D3SX9_**.dll files placed in \system32.
